History
Longwood’s past comes alive in every cobblestone and facade. It is a tapestry of sizeable events and exceptional figures that shaped its identity. In 1911, women organized a Longwood Improvement Society to build up the town and improve its culture. They collected discarded fruit and vegetables from roadsides, put up barrels to collect trash, and covered some of the streets with sawdust.
